One of my favorite Tunes

Check out “Catharsis” — one of my favorite Silvio Gazuez tunes.  This is actually the song
that caught our attention as “guitar talent scouts”… We noticed the combination of
great song writing, strong melodies, and amazing technique with great feel.

Should we be surprised that since writing this, Silvio has gone to place at
the guitar idol finals not once but twice?

2 String Legato

Legato technique is essential, and contrary to popular belief, it is not necessarily “easier”
just because you don’t have to pick as many notes.  The left hand actually has to work
harder to get all those hammer ons and pullofs going.  This is especially true when transversing
from one string to the next.

The following example is in the key of E minor and it uses patterns of 6 notes spanning
across 2 strings.  Try moving the same pattern to various sets of strings or transposing
it to different keys.

Dimished Arpeggios

As you will find out, arpeggios are truly one of the keys to the kingdom for
learning to play wicked sounding electric lead guitar.  For the uninitiated,
an arpeggio is simply the notes of a chord played separately.  However,
there are endless ways to use them in cool combinations.

One particular variety of chord or arpeggio is the diminished arpeggio,
which has a slightly dissonant, dark, mysterious, and quirky sound to it.

In this lesson, you’ll get a cool example of how to use diminished arpeggios
to create a nice guitar pattern.  Check it out!

5 Tips to Advanced Lead Guitar

In this cool report, Silvio Gazquez breaks down exactly what you need to study, learn,
and practice if you want to play advanced lead guitar.  This is not your average
beginner stuff.  We are venturing into deep waters and true advanced lead guitar playing.

Essentially there are 5 core techniques that you must become familiar with.  First, speed
picking, which is also known as alternate picking.  Secondly, sweep picking, which means
you are quite literally sweeping across the strings with your pick, which uses economy
of motion.  This applies to both scales and arpeggios.  Third, legato technique, which
for all intents and purposes means you’re using hammerons and pulloffs.  Fourth , tapping,
and fifth, blending these other techniques together into complex licks.

Is Personal Coaching from Silvio Included in This Package?

Hey guitar friends,

I know a lot of you can’t wait to order this package on Tuesday.  Well, I have good news.  Silvio has agreed to be your personal guitar coach , BUT… Only for the people who order during our ‘prelaunch’, and we may have to take the offer off the table if we get TOO many orders too fast.

We love to ask Silvio questions.

Here’s a small clip where Virtuwul and I are interviewing Silvio about the song he just played, called “Anatomy”.

For the first bunch of people to order, we’ll have a private community where Silvio will answer ALL of YOUR questions, so we’re going to make sure you personally get major benefits from this course.

Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned because the doors open on Tuesday!

Another Intense Song from Silvio

Hey friends,

Here’s another cool song called “Fight Training”… Silvio tells me its a Greg Howe-inspired tune.  It’s pretty intense!

On the Virtuoso Guitar Secrets DVDs, we go over many of Silvio’s songs in great depth and analysis.  I’ll be posting a sample of that section tomorrow… For now, enjoy watching this:

Shred Like Silvio Gazquez, Ritchie Kotzen, Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, and Paul Gilbert!

Hello again my guitar friends,

First of all, mark your calendars for Tuesday the 30th, at noon EST.  That’s when Virtuoso Guitar Secrets will be available.  We’ll have some very special offers, prices, and incentives to order, so stay tuned for the details.

One of the coolest parts of this DVD series is that Silvio not only shows his own amazing style and licks, but he also “decodes” the shred styles of Ritchie Kotzen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, and Paul Gilbert.

So you’ll be learning 5 shred styles for the price of 1 🙂

It’s all very cool…

Here’s a sample clip from Virtuoso Guitar Secrets where Silvio is teaching us to play like Paul Gilbert.

Remember, this is just a tiny sample… Virtuso Guitar Secrets has over 4 hours of jam-packed lessons for you.

Enjoy! – Claude

Here’s More Fun “On the Road” Footage from Argentina

Hey guys and gals…

More lessons coming soon, don’t worry.  Tonight I just wanted to post 2 more cool “behind the scenes”, “on the road” videos for you, so you can get more of the “vibe” of us going down to Argentina to film Silvio.

The first one starts pretty much when we meet Silvio at the hotel… And then we are hanging out with Silvio in his appartment… And he’s showing me some string-skipping, tapping pentatonic ideas, which I start to work into my bag of tricks, he he 🙂

The second video is like an “MTV style” mini-montage… Its got some hot soloing just from Silvio in his appartment and a cool clip of Virtuwul and Silvio behind the scenes at the photo shoot.

Enjoy! – Claude

Learning the Mindset (And Techniques) of a Virtuoso Player

Hello…  Hope your weekend was good!  Mine was very busy – working with my video editor to put the finishing touches on the Virtuoso Guitar Secrets DVD series.

You know, when I first talked to Silvio about doing an instructional DVD product, neither of us  had a clear picture of what we watned in the video.    Then, Silvio suggested that he play some of his own songs, and then explain the concepts and techniques.

I said “great! And why not also have a section just on technique?”  And what about a third section where Silvio decodes his favorite influential guitarists?  And then Virtuwul told me “yeah, and why not have two cameras showing both hands, plus on screen tabs and slowed-down versions of the licks”.  Our goal was to make this finest product we’ve ever created.

So we have:

DVD I:  Songs (6 of Silvio’s finest compositions, performed and analyzed).  Each song has some amazing solo parts which are transcribed so you can learn these licks note for note.   You’ll hear Virtuwul and myself interview Silvio about each song, so that every technique and trick is exposed and made clear.  Finally, the song is played again at 50% speed so you can see and hear all the subtleties in slow motion if you want to.

DVD II:  Technique.   Silvio divides technique into 4 basic areas:  Legato, Picking, Arpeggios/Sweeping, and Signature Licks.  For each section, I’m again interviewing Silvio to learn all of his monster methods.  Then, Silvio gives tons of exercises for each section.  We also inlcude footage of everything slowed down again (just in case it goes too fast) plus tabs of all the examples.  The tabs are visible on your TV screen, plus you’ll get a printable guide of all the tabs to follow along.

DVD III: Here, Silvio talks about 4 of his favorite influences:  Ritchie Kotzen, Vinnie Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Paul Gilbert.  For each section, Virtuwul is discussing the techniques with Silvio, and then Silvio gives tons of exercises and licks in the style of each influential player.  Again, you’ll get the onscreen tabs, the printable tabs, and the slowed down video.  This DVD also includes more discussions with Silvio about gear and technical stuff… Plus several bonus songs.

All in all, its going to be an amazingly fun package to learn from.  In a few days, we’ll be posting the details on how to get your hands on “Virtuoso Guitar Secrets”.

For today, I put together a small video which has a few clips of Silvio discussing legato, along with 2 exercises from the video from the legato section.

This is just a tiny sample… Virtuoso Guitar Secrets is a massive learning package  with  over 4 hours of intense guitar instruction. I know you’re going to love it.

We’ve got lots more stuff to show you , so keep checking back on the blog every day:)

Introducing our “guitar monster” friend

Hey all my guitar friends! Hope you are doing well.

We guitarists sure can be critical and opinionated, can’t we? 🙂 Especially when it comes
to our favorite players and who deserves to be called a “virtuoso”… But let me introduce  a guy
who I think really “has the goods”.  His name is Silvio Gazquez,  and he’s from La Plata, Argentina…

But it’s not just me who thinks he’s a virtuoso! Silvio is a finalist in the
guitar Idol 2008 contest, chosen from thousands of entries!   In their words:

“A true Guitar monster along the lines of Shawn Lane, Todd Duane and similar:
unbelievable technique and genuinely different, and with his effortless command
of the instrument this guys time in the guitar limelight is surely guaranteed…”

Not only is he an amazing player, but Silvio is a great songwriter too.

Here’s a video of him playing one of his songs:

Anyway, we thought Silvio was so good  that we
decided to fly down to Argentina to make a video with him.

So, you can officially get excited now… Because we are going to have
Silvio share his amazing technique and guitar approach
with YOU!

Next week, we’ll be uploading sample clips and lessons from our hot new
DVD series called “Virtuoso Guitar Secrets”, and you can start getting some
of these monster licks and techniques under your fingers.

Stay tuned… Claude
